This March $120,000 worth of gold was sent to Florence, Italy to be transformed into gold leaf before adorning our Capital dome. Sixty-five ounces, mined here in Colorado, will be used to re-gild our beautiful state building in the extensive restoration project, Share in the Care. It's estimated that the 140,000 1/8,000 millimeter tissue thin sheets of gold leaf will be applied at the rate of 50 to 100 square feet per day taking the remainder of the summer to complete.
